Today’s Moron – George J. Goodwin

Upstate New York School Superintendent in Lansingburgh, NY, George J. Goodwin, has suspended a High School student and Eagle Scout for a month for having a 2-inch utility knife locked in his car on school property in an Eagle Scout survival kit containing the knife, a sleeping bag, water and a ready to eat meal.  The knife in the survival kit was given to 17-year old Matthew Whalen by his grandfather. 

Matthew Whalen has no prior instances or infractions at school and is a top student.  He is planning to enter a U.S. Military Academy upon graduation and hopes that this does not marr his chances of being accepted to an academy. 

What kind of idiot would not use common sense judgement in a case like this?  Doesn’t this stupid superintendent know that a car is a much worse weapon than a two-inch knife?  Can’t he look at this situation without blinders on and realize that this kid is a good kid and that the ‘no tolerance rule’ that he says he is following needs to be combined with common sense?  Obviously, Georgy Goodwin has no common sense.  Obviously, Georgy Goodwin is for some reason intimidated by Mr. Whalen and thinks he is a big, tough guy for suspending a kid that is undeserving.  Perhaps Mr. Georgy Goodwin has something he has to overcompensate for! 

Whatever the reason, it is apparent to most anyone who reads this story that George J. Goodwin is a total moron that needs to learn some respect, common sense and rational thinking when it comes to administering a school district.  We feel badly for Matthew Whalen and hope that he is successful in all his life endeavors and that this incident teaches him to think rationally and to be reasonable and to use common sense.  Too bad his school superintendent (that needs to get a life) is simply teaching authoritarian nonsense, irrationality and ignorance.

John Donatich thinks religious extremism is more important than freedom of speech

Today’s Moron – John Donatich

John Donatich is the Director of Yale University Press and finds himself in a bit of a media uproar.  You see, John Donatich in approving a new book to be released, made the decision to remove a key aspect of that book which many consider censorship. 

The book “The Cartoons that Shook the World” by Jytte Klaussen is set for release next week and is about the cartoons of Muhammad done in 2005 in a Danish newspaper that caused riots, unrest and violence from Muslims that believe the image of Muhammad to be sacred and not copied or used in any way.

So, because of that incident in 2005 and the possible threat of a repeat by Muslim Extremist idiots, John Donatich decided to appease this type of fanaticism and remove the cartoons from the book about the very subject.  Not only does this undermine the validity and effectiveness of the book, but it shows that in our society, freedom of speech can be toppled because of ignorant extremists threats.  It lets them win and gives credence to the Muslim extremist ignorance. 

You can find the Muhammad cartoons on the Internet, and I find them quite amusing myself.  The cartoons are appropriate given the death and destruction that is caused in the name of Islam.  If a religion many say we should respect is responsible for such acts as 9/11, then it should be the target of cartoons.  It should be the target of criticism.  It should be the target of truth.  But John Donatich, and many others, tip-toe around any kind of criticism or truth and continue to let the World live in fear of the moron Muhammad and his ignorant followers.

Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr - is every negative situation that happens to you racist?

Okay, so maybe I did get it wrong two days ago when I selected the arresting officer Sgt. James Crowley as the moron of the day.  After watching more coverage, and speaking to a friend in law enforcement, and listening to witness accounts, it seems to me that the good professor was at least equally moronic or possibly the bigger moron on the scene. 

I was thinking about this being a racist incident, and I really don’t think that it is.  Every time a black person is arrested or gets in trouble is not a racist incident.  So, I closed my eyes and imagined what would happen if I was in an agitated mood, tired, and my neighbor had reported me trying to break into my own house.  If I answered the door to a police demanding ID in my own home, knowing myself as a bit of a hot-head, I may also refuse and become beligerant.  After all, it is my house!  And if I do, and the officer needs to ensure that the premises are clear and that all is right, and arrests me to get me to stop interfering, I would probably deserve it. 

I may be tempted to claim it was because I am gay, but that would be stupid.  But, after thinking about this situation rationally, I believe that Gates was crazy insisting the very fact that police were there was racist.  Police responding to a call about a break-in is not racist just because there is a black man living at the house.  They don’t know what is going on and are there to do their job.  So, when you start yelling racism at every little incident that happens to you (we all have bad stuff happen to us) then the call of racism is diminished.  Kind of like the boy who cried wolf. 

So, I think that Gates needs to shut up and accept the situation for what it is and that he acted irrationally and irresponsibly when dealing with the police.  God knows I have done that and paid the price in the past.  And yes, I paid the price, and no, I am not black.
