November 16, 2009 – Brent Gobbell

Brent Gobbell needs lessons on e-mail usage, not diversity!
Today’s Moron – Trooper Brent Gobbell
Brent Gobbell, a Tennessee State Police Trooper, accidentally forwarded an e-mail he had received to more than 750 state employees instead of to himself, as he had intended. Now, come on, haven’t we all learned yet to be more careful with e-mails? Don’t keep or send personal e-mails at work and triple check who you are sending to?
Well, it seems that Brent Gobbell, now suspended for 15 days without pay, has learned his lesson. Part of his punishment, though, is to attend diversity training. The reason – the e-mail he sent was titled ‘White Pride’. While having pride in being white is not racist (although most people in this country think it is) much of the language used in the e-mail went beyond being proud of being white and did cross the line.
So, there is a lesson here – be careful when working with personal e-mails while at work, and be careful if you are white and proud, because that is not politically correct.
