At last, Obama does something right.

Hopefully, he knew that giving $100 a month in welfare, unemployment welfare would make ineligible thousands of layabouts from getting even more welfare, food stamps.

I’m sorry, but what happend to the days when people actually went out and got a night job to make ends meet? Another thing, every time I get in line at the grocery behind someone on stamps, it seems their carts are full of soda, twinkies, and chips. When I have had tough times in the past I have stocked up on more inexpensive but healthy items..I made meals which could be eaten on for days. I’m not saying everyone on stamps purchase these items, but it seems to be a common thing to see.
Actually, I think that maybe Obama has some hope, maybe he knew that this move might encourage people to get a job or two and get off of unemployment and food stamps!

Hey Monica – I appreciate your thoughts…

But consider that the cut-off is about $14,000 a year gross. I assume with your job you make more than that. People who find themselves unemployed and get unemployment are getting only about that. Try going from your salary to $14K a year. It is not easy for people.

And belive me, I am not a bleeding heart Dem…although I can pretend sometimes.

For a “non-partisan blog” you sure sound like a bleeding heart Dem. to me.
$200 – $400 in food stamp help? I wish I got that! Fortunately I have a job but I have to budget and cut corners like crazy to take care of my family. Feel sorry for me too?
